虹の橋

Just this side of Heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge.
天国のちょっと手前に、『虹の橋』と呼ばれる場所があります。

When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here,that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge.
この世の誰かに愛されていた動物は、亡くなるとその『虹の橋』へ向かうのです。

There are meadows and hills for all of our special friendsso they can run and play together.
そこには、緑の草地や丘が広がっていて、彼らはたくさんの仲間たちと走り回って遊ぶ事が出来ます。

There is plenty of food, water and sunshine and our friends are warm and comfortable.
食べ物も水もたっぷりあって、お日様の光は降り注ぎ、みんな暖かく幸せに過ごせる場所なのです。

All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor;
those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again,
just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by.
病気だった子も年老いていた子も、みんなここに来て元気を取り戻し、
傷付いていたり不自由な体になっていた子達も、元どおりの丈夫な体を取り戻す事が出来ます。
・・・まるで過ぎ去りし日の夢の中のように。

The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing:
そこでは何不自由なくみんな幸せに暮らしているのだけれど、
たった一つだけ足りないものがありました。

they each miss someone very special, someone who was left behind.
それは、みんなにとっての特別な人、
地上に残してきた愛する人がここにいない事です。

They all run and play together,
動物たちは一緒に走り回って遊び、時を過ごしていましたが、

but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance.
ついにある日、その中の一匹が、突然足を止めて遠くに目を向けました。

His bright eyes are intent; his eager body begins to quiver.
そして、その瞳はキラキラと輝き、
体はたまりかねたように小刻みに震えはじめました。

Suddenly, he breaks from the group, flying over the green grass,
faster and faster.
すると突然、その子はみんなから離れて、
緑の草地を跳ぶように走っていったのです。
速く、より速くと・・・！

You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet,
そうです、愛する子があなたを見つけたのです！とうとう出会えたあなた達は、

you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again.
互いに抱き合って再会を喜びあい、もはや二度と別れる事はありません。

The happy kisses rain upon your face;
your hands again caress the beloved head,
喜びのキスがあなたの顔に降りそそぎ、
あなたの両手は再び愛しい友の頭と体を優しく撫でます。

and you look once more into those trusting eyes,
そして、あなたは信頼にあふれたその瞳をもう一度のぞき込みます。

so long gone from your life, but never absent from your heart.
あなたの人生から、長い間失われていたけれど、
その心からは一日たりとも消えたことのなかったその瞳を・・・。

Then you cross the Rainbow Bridge together…
